After a successful 20 year career in corporate contract negotiation, Shirley decided to obtain a legal degree. She did this while working full-time and raising four children. Shirley attended law school on weekends and obtained her degree in four years, from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing Michigan. At Cooley her focus on Elder Law came to the forefront when she became a contributing member of the student staff at Cooley's Elder Law Clinic. This is where Shirley realized that corporate contract law was not her passion and that she would be making a change in her career once she graduated and obtained her license. Shirley became a member of the Illinois and Federal Bars in May of 2008. She has since focused her legal career in the areas of Elder Law & Long-Term Estate Planning, Medicaid Planning & Qualification, Wills, Trusts, Guardianships, Powers of Attorney and Probate. Shirley continues to give back by volunteering with Chicago Volunteer Legal Services and Wills for Heroes on a regular basis; she believes helping those who are in need is everyone's job. Shirley brings a dedication and passion to every case she takes and is a zealous advocate for all of her clients. Elder Counsel
